Joshua 21:45
Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.
Our God is a covenantal God. There is none like Him, and all that He says, He does. We are not to look to our lives and our circumstances to define who God is, but we are to look to His Word and His Promises.
For the promises of God are sure and true. He works together all things for His glory and our good. As God’s people, we are to walk by faith and not by sight. We are to walk and pursue all things in light of the promises of God.
This is not a foolish demand of God for the inclinations of our hearts. Our God is not a genie in a bottle we should attempt to manipulate, for “our God is in the heavens, and He does whatever He pleases!” But we must walk in a way that does justly, loves mercy, and walks humbly with our God. For the “friendship of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and He makes known to them His covenant.”
So in light of who God is, we can boldly and confidently approach the throne of grace through the finished work of Christ. We can lay our anxieties and burdens before the Lord and rest in His promises, for all of God’s promises come to pass. He is good, and His steadfast love endures forever.

Father, Your promises are sure and true. They are eternal and limitless, yet personal and intimate. Through Christ, I am to hold fast to Your promises; I am to cling to Your Word and to rest in Your truth. Yet I confess that many times Your promises don’t come to mind, or I find myself demanding that You answer Your promises how I want You to. Forgive me! Who am I that I should demand anything from You? Will You grant my heart to rest on Your promises based on who You are? In Christ’s name. Amen
