Acts 8:22
Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.
We cannot cleanse ourselves from our sin. For there is none righteous, no not one. There is none who seek God, and all have turned aside and follow their own ways.
Our hearts continually attempt to justify ourselves by our own actions and compare our actions against the world rather than looking to God. We constantly blame our circumstances, our situations as the reason for our actions rather than humbling ourselves before God.
With every attempt to fix ourselves, we reject Christ. Our hearts become hardened, and we justify our depravity before a holy God. God sent His Son into the world to pay the penalty for our sins. He has called us to a life of repentance and of seeking the Lord with all our hearts and asking Him to change them. He desires to give us new hearts and new spirits that reflect Christ and Christ alone. Let us look to Christ, for in Him all things are made new, and in Him we have life.
Romans 3:10–12, John 3:16, Ezekiel 36:26
Father, You have made a way for me to know You and to be known by You! Yet, my hardened heart so easily desires to make my own way. Forgive me. Thank You for Your goodness, mercy, and for working all things together. Give me a new heart and a new spirit, and change the intent of my heart for Your glory. For Christ’s sake. Amen
