Psalm 115:3

Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.

  1. We must ask ourselves this question: “Is God mainly about my glory or His glory?” The world and our flesh battle against the God of the heavens. We desire for Him to do what we please, what we desire, what we want. Yet who are we in comparison with who God is?

  2. Our God is perfect and holy! Our God has never made a mistake, nor does He ever waiver from His perfection. His throne is in the heavens, and He rules over all. Everything He does is good, perfect, and true. The only reason a person would not trust in the Lord is because he does not know the Lord.

  3. Our entire aim is to know God. It is to know God and to make Him known to all the world. We are to seek, His Kingdom come, and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven!

  4. Even the Lord’s discipline is an act of grace. For the Lord disciplines those He loves. Our God is not deistic, but instead, He is near. In Him, we live and move and have our being! So as the Lord does whatever He pleases, we must humble our hearts and bow before Him, trusting Him in all things.

Matthew 6:10, Hebrews 12:6, Acts 17:28

Father, You do whatever You please. I confess at my first glimpse this seems selfish—until I gaze upon Your perfection and know that all the things You do are right and true and good. I have wrestled many times with the wretched sin of unbelief. Forgive me for not declaring in my heart how much I trust You. Do what You please in my life. Give me wisdom and lead me for Your glory, for I trust You, my God and my King. In Christ’s name I ask this. Amen
