Psalm 56:8

You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?

  1. The Lord is near. He is mindful and near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. He knows our frame and remembers that we are dust.

  2. The Lord knows every tossing and every tear we shed. He counts every one of them. There is not one He does not count, or ignores, or deems unworthy of remembering! He knows every tear that falls from pain and sorrow! Our God is not only mindful of them, but He captures every tear in His bottle. They are counted and they are known. There is not one aspect of our lives that the Lord neglects or deems unimportant.

  3. He not only captures all our tears but is mindful of every tossing in our bed from the fears and worries, the pain and doubts, and each is recorded in His Book. Our lives are written down; they have purpose and meaning and are known by our Creator. He does not forget them, and He uses all for His glory and our good. He does not waste a moment and uses all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

  4. Let us then, in light of this knowledge, draw near to the throne of grace with confidence that we might receive mercy and find grace in time of need.

Psalm 34:18, Psalm 103:14, Romans 8:28, Hebrews 4:16

Father, how easy it is for me to forget that You know me. I am tempted so often to trust what I see with my eyes and what I feel in my emotions and to deny Your Word. I am tempted so often to believe I am not good enough to be known or that I am not worthy of Your mindfulness of me. Yet You sent Your Son into the world to pay the price of humanity’s sin, that I might know You. Jesus took the cup of wrath that I may glorify You. Grant my heart to know You not only in the times of joy but in the times You have ordained when I toss and turn and when tears flood my soul. Grant me the grace of knowing You are near. For the sake of Christ I ask this. Amen
