Luke 17:5

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

  1. Human nature hasn’t changed since the fall of man and is not evolving into better people, for the same sins plague the heart of man today as they have since the time of Adam.

  2. When listening to our Lord Jesus, the apostles assumed it was their faith that kept them from doing the things of the Lord. This is untruth, and it’s the same heresy the prosperity gospel heretics preach in their churches and organizations across the world today.

  3. The things the Lord calls us to do have nothing to do with the size of our faith but rather a knowledge of the greatness of who God is. When churches cease to know God and pursue a right view of who He is, when they cease to behold their God, we instead reconstruct theological words to strive for what our sinful hearts think we desire rather than Him we need most.

  4. Our aim should be to know God and make Him known in all of His grandeur, glory, and holiness. We should have a courage that parallels none and is assured in the truth and objectivity of God’s Word. We must press, we must press on to know the Lord!

Isaiah 40:9, Hosea 6:3

Father, You sit enthroned in the heavens and You do whatever You please. So many times I have attempted to dethrone You in my moralistic, therapeutic deism rather than know You as a Person. Father, please make Yourself known, that by Your grace, I may boldly make You known. Help me to know You, personally, humbly, for Your glory and my good. In Christ’s name. Amen
